Escape the winter chill with a planned 7-day getaway deep into the Heart of Texas. This journey is designed to highlight iconic history, incredible museums, and authentic Southern culture...from the Magnolia Silos to the legendary Alamo.

No Junction City pick-up on this tour.

Day 1: Valentine’s day seems the appropriate day to depart for a visit to the Heart of Texas.  We travel through Oklahoma enroute to Burleson, TX, just south of Ft Worth. The evening features an included dinner at Babe’s Chicken Dinner House where family style platters of Southern cooking ar the star of the show.  Night in Burleson.

2 : This morning is tailored for fans of beautiful home decor and sweet treats, featuring a visit to the Magnolia Market at the Silos in Waco, TX. There is time planned for you to browse the unique shops, grab something from the famous bakery, or simply relax on the lawn. This afternoon our travel takes us to Austin for the night.

3: History takes center stage today, beginning with a guided tour of the magnificent pink-granite Texas State Capitol building. From there, the route heads south to San Antonio. We have the opportunity to walk the hallowed, historic grounds of The Alamo, followed by a visit to the nearby Buckhorn Saloon and Texas Ranger Museum to explore fascinating frontier law enforcement exhibits. The day concludes as we check into our hotel right on the world-famous River Walk for the next three nights.

4:  Our exploration of San Antonio's deep roots continues with a stop at the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, focusing on the beautifully restored Mission San Jose. Lunchtime brings a chance to experience the Historic Pearl District, a revitalized 19th-century brewery now housing a vibrant, chef-driven food hall. Later, there is time at the sprawling Witte Museum to discover the rich history, culture, and nature of South Texas.

5:  A narrated River Boat Cruise is set to provide a relaxing, scenic start to the morning. Everyone then has the chance to marvel at authentic bronze sculptures and artifacts of the American West at the Briscoe Western Art Museum. After time for  lunch on own along the riverbanks, the schedule offers a ride up the 750-foot Tower of the Americas for spectacular 360-degree city views. As night falls, we catch "The Saga," a breathtaking video art projection illuminating the historic San Fernando Cathedral.

6:  Our northbound journey kicks off today, bringing us to Fort Worth—where the Old West is still very much alive. The afternoon is built around a visit to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, perfectly timed to offer our group a chance to watch real Texas cowhands drive longhorns down the brick streets. The trip's festivities wrap up with dinner at Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que, famous for its classic Texas brisket.  Night in Fort Worth.

7: Settle in and relax in the comfortable seats of our motorcoach as the final stretch north begins. A leisurely lunch stop in Oklahoma breaks up the drive before crossing back into Kansas.
