Experience our Nation's History - 3 Days in Washington DC / 2 Days in New York City / A Day in Philadelphia / A Day in Boston

Day 1: A treat awaits us in the East visiting four major cities. We spend three sightseeing days in Washington, DC, two days in New York City, a day in Philadelphia, and a day in Boston. Our first day on our comfortable motor­coach takes us to Fairview Heights, IL, for night.

2: Our drive today takes us through southern Illinois and then into the beautiful horse country of Ken­tucky. Night in Barboursville, WV.

3: Today we drive through West Virginia, pass through northern Virginia’s Appalachian Mountains and arrive in Washington, DC, where we spend the next four nights.

4: The next three days are reserved for visiting our nation’s capital. Sightseeing includes the U.S. Capitol; Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln monuments; World War II, Korean and Vietnam War memorials and more.

5: We begin today with a visit to Arlington Cemetery, a site devoted to America’s most hallowed ground and to the American heroes buried there. Following that we have time to visit America’s national educational facility, the Smithsonian Institution.

6: Our local guide joins us again today as we continue touring in Washington, DC.

7: Today we leave our nation’s capital and travel north and east to Phila­delphia, the birthplace of liberty. There is time to visit Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Next three nights in suburban New York City.

8: This is our first day to visit the Big Apple. Our day's activities include touring with a local guide and going to the Top of Rockefeller Center for a bird’s eye view of New York City.

9: Our morning begins with a boat ride to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Later we join our local guide to visit the 9/11 Memorial and continue our tour of the city.

10: We leave the Big Apple and travel toward Boston, MA. On our way to Boston we visit Ply­mouth, where the pilgrims landed in 1620. We overnight in Boston the next two nights.

11: Today we spend a day rich in American history, following the Freedom Trail and seeing such sights as Boston Common, Beacon Hill, and the Old North Church with a knowledgeable guide. In the afternoon we cross the Charles River to see and hear the stories of the battlefields of Lexing­ton and Concord.

12: Our route today takes us to the western Massachusetts town of Stockbridge where we visit the Norman Rockwell Museum which is said to house the largest collection of original artwork by the beloved illustrator. Later there will be a brief stop to view the state capitol in Albany, NY, as we continue on our way to Johnson City, NY, for the night.

13: A tour of the Corning Museum of Glass is planned for the morn­ing before traveling to Niagara Falls. We have plenty of time to enjoy the Falls in all their splendor this afternoon and even­ing. Night in Niagara Falls, NY.

14: We leave the beautiful Falls behind this morning as we drive west on our way to South Bend, IN, where we spend the night.

15: Our way leads steadily homeward. The farmlands of central Illinois lead us to Des Moines, IA, where we stay for night.

16: We have time to reflect on the rich heritage of our country as we complete a pleasant drive in our comfortable motorcoach. At the end of the day we arrive at our destination in central Kansas.
