Itinerary
Day 1: Exciting adventures await us as we anticipate the adventure of a lifetime to America’s last frontier. An early morning start allows us to pick you up in Wichita, McPherson, Salina, Junction City or Topeka on our way to Kansas City International Airport. Our flight takes us to Fairbanks, the Golden Heart City. Upon arrival into Fairbanks we are met by our local guide, and transferred to our hotel where we spend the next two nights.
2: Breakfast included. Today includes a scenic city tour of Fairbanks. First we cruise the Chena River aboard a sternwheeler, and experience the thrill of river travel, lunch included. Next we tour Gold Dredge #8. We view the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and ride the Tanana Valley Railroad through the gold fields of the interior. Alaskan miners explain mining history and we get a chance to pan for gold. Later today we visit Santa Claus House located in North Pole where every day is Christmas.
3: This morning our motorcoach takes us to the Fairbanks rail depot where we board a deluxe dome railcar for a scenic train ride south to Denali. Breakfast included on board. Tonight we re-live Alaska's early days as we enjoy Alaska Cabin Nite Dinner Theater. Next two nights at Denali.
4: Breakfast included. Today, we travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour and search the vast wilderness for bear, moose, caribou, and dall sheep. This six to eight hour journey is narrated by our driver/guide, allowing for insight into the animals as well as the flora and fauna of this unique region. A snack is included on board. The rest of the day will be at your leisure for optional activities such as guided hikes, flightseeing, rafting, as well as others to choose from.
5: Breakfast included. We then board our motorcoach for a scenic drive south to Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city. Included today is a visit to the quaint town of Talkeetna where we have time to explore on our own. We continue to Anchorage with included stops at the Veteran’s Memorial as well as the Iditarod Museum. Overnight in Anchorage.
6: Breakfast included. Today we continue south to the coastal community of Seward. Upon arrival, we board a glacier and wildlife cruise and travel through the majestic Kenai Fjords National Park. Explore the face of a glacier, and keep your eyes open for seals, sea lions, sea otters, whales, and more. Lunch is included on board. Overnight in Seward.
7: Breakfast included. Today we drive north to Anchorage. En route, we stop to visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center where we have a chance to see Alaska’s wildlife up close. Upon arrival in Anchorage, we enjoy a city tour including Lake Hood where 190+ floatplanes take off and land daily, Earthquake Park to learn about the 1964 Earthquake, and the historic downtown area. Tonight we share stories of our Alaskan Adventure at a closing night dinner. It is time to say goodbye to our local tour guide and driver as we are transferred to the Anchorage Airport for our overnight flight home.
8: This morning our motorcoach meets us at the airport for return to our departure points.
