Day 1: The beautiful hills and mountains of South Dakota and Wyoming are our destination. We travel across Nebraska into South Dakota. Overnight in Chamberlain.
2: We drive through the Badlands for a look at the unique rock formations and stop for a visit at Wall Drug Store. This afternoon we travel to Rapid City to meet our local guide and begin touring in the Black Hills. A stop at Crazy Horse Memorial allows us time to view the film and exhibits in the visitor center as we learn about the monument to the Oglala Lakota warrior being carved out of the mountain. Late afternoon check-in at our hotel allows us to freshen up before taking the short drive to Mt. Rushmore. We have time to view Mt. Rushmore in the daylight before watching the evening lighting ceremonies. Night in Keystone.
3: This morning we continue our tour of the Black Hills with a stop at Stavkirke Norwegian Chapel in the Hills, a drive on the historic Custer Trail and a visit to Deadwood. In the afternoon we travel into Wyoming to visit Devils Tower which rises 1,267 feet above the Belle Fourche River. As our schedule allows there will be time for an up close look at the tower. Next we travel to Buffalo, WY, for the night.
4: Today we continue west to Cody. This afternoon we visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody. The Center is a complex of five museums featuring art and artifacts of the old west. Founded in 1917 by Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney to preserve the legacy and vision of Col. William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody, the Buffalo Bill Center of the West is the oldest and most comprehensive museum complex of the West. This evening we enjoy a chuckwagon supper and music show. Option: Following the chuckwagon show you may choose to attend the Cody Nite Rodeo. Night in Cody.
5: An early morning departure gets us headed onto the picturesque drive into Yellowstone National Park. We meet our Yellowstone guide and continue into the park to enjoy seeing and learning about the the canyons, waterfalls, thermal features and geysers throughout the park. Time is spent in the Old Faithful area so that we get to see this famous geyser erupt. Continuing south out of the park we enjoy an evening box lunch as we head into Jackson, WY, for the night. 6: This morning you are free to look around Jackson on your own. Next we head for Grand Teton National Park to take a float trip on the Snake River. This scenic 10-mile trip allows us unique opportunity to enjoy the wildlife and natural beauty of the National Park. Following our float trip we return to Jackson for the night.
7: Today we travel east to Casper. In the afternoon we have time to visit the National Trails Interpretive Center. The Center commemorates Native American history, early explorers, and the travel corridor of the Oregon, Mormon, California, and Pony Express trails, as well as the Bridger and Bozeman trails through hands-on, interactive exhibits in seven galleries and an 18-minute multi-media program. Night in Casper.
8: We are on our way to Cheyenne for an exciting afternoon at the Cheyenne Rodeo, the "Daddy of 'em All". Night in Denver.
9: We have enjoyed many spectacular sights and reflect on these as our comfortable motorcoach takes us back home to Kansas.
