Day 1: We are headed to Memphis, a city steeped in history and famous for its music. Our travel today takes us through Oklahoma and into Arkansas where we overnight in Conway.
2: A short drive this morning finds us crossing the Mississippi River into Tennessee and the city of Memphis. Our first stop is at Sun Studios for a tour of the recording studio where music legends such as Johnny Cash, B.B. King Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and many more began their recording careers. Following lunch at Central BBQ we are joined by a local guide who will tell us about the city and take us to St. Judes Pavillion and Mud Island. Next two nights in Memphis.
3:This morning we are headed to Elvis Presley's Graceland. The Graceland complex is made up of the 14 acre Presley estate, museums and an entertainment facility with eateries and shops. In the afternoon we visit the National Civil Rights Museum housed in the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Next we visit the Rock and Soul Museum which was created by the Smithsonian Institution to tell the story of musical pioneers who, for the love of music, overcame racial and socio-economic barriers to create the music that shook the entire world. Dinner this evening is included at a restaurant on Beale Street.
4: Today we travel through Arkansas and into Missouri to Branson. Following dinner this evening we attend a production of the Million Dollar Quartet. This show tells the story of the day Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis gathered at Sun Studios in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever.
5: Today we travel west through Missouri and back home to Kansas.
