Day 1: The beautiful hills and mountains of North and South Dakota and Wyoming are our destination. We travel across Nebraska into South Dakota. Experience the unique “ear”chitecture as we visit the world’s only Corn Palace in Mitchell. Overnight in Mitchell.
2: We drive through the Badlands for a look at the unique rock formations and stop for a visit at Wall Drug Store. We arrive at our hotel in Keystone in time to check in and freshen up before driving the short distance to Mt. Rushmore. We have time to view Mt. Rushmore by daylight before watching the evening lighting ceremonies. Night in Keystone.
3: Today is devoted to the Black Hills. A local guide is with us as we visit Deadwood, Crazy Horse Monument and other sights. Night in Spearfish.
4: Today we travel north to Medora, ND, to visit the gateway city to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. For dinner tonight we enjoy a Pitch Fork Fondue followed by the “Medora Musical,” a Broadway-class musical variety show at the 2,750-seat Burning Hills Amphitheater. Night in Medora.
5: A buffet breakfast in downtown Medora gets us off to a good start. Our travels today take us into Montana on our way to Yellowstone National Park. Night in Livingston.
6: Today a guide tells us about the wonders of America’s first national park, Yellowstone. Yellowstone is home to a large variety of wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, bison and elk. Also preserved within the park are Old Faithful and some of the world’s most extraordinary geysers and hot springs. Night in Yellowstone. (7,825’)
7: As we drive south out of Yellowstone we enter Grand Teton National Park. We stop to visit the Craig Thomas Discovery Center which orients visitors to the unique natural cultural history of the area. Following a box lunch we prepare for a float trip on the Snake River. This scenic 10-mile trip allows us a unique opportunity to enjoy the wildlife and natural beauty of the National Park. Following our float trip we arrive in Jackson where we spend the night.
8: There will be time this morning to look around the town of Jackson on your own before we depart around noon. This afternoon we are headed to Rawlins where we spend the night.
9: We are on our way to Cheyenne for an exciting afternoon at the Cheyenne Rodeo, the "Daddy of 'em All". Night in Denver.
10: We have enjoyed many spectacular sights and reflect on these as our comfortable motorcoach takes us back home to Kansas.
