Day 1: We are on our way to the East. Sit back and relax and think about the American history we will enjoy firsthand. Night in Collinsville, IL.
2: The rich farmlands of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio fascinate us today. A stop at the Indianapolis Speedway allows us to tour the famous 2.5 mile oval track and visit their Hall of Fame Museum. Night in Columbus, OH.
3: This afternoon we visit the Flight 93 Memorial near Shanksville. This memorial is located where Flight 93 crashed on September 11, 2001. We travel through western Pennsylvania to Chambersburg for the night.
4: Our drive today takes us to Gettysburg where we stop at the visitor’s center and have a tour of the battlefield. Our next destination is Hershey for a visit to Hershey’s Chocolate World. After Hershey we travel to Lancaster, home of the Amish and Mennonites. Next two nights in Lancaster, PA.
5: A local guide helps us visit the farms and villages of Lancaster County. Tonight we enjoy an Amish family style dinner at Plain and Fancy Restaurant.
6: Today it’s a tour of Philadelphia, the birthplace of liberty for a visit to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. In late afternoon we drive to Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, for the next three nights.
7: This is our first day to visit the Big Apple. Our day's activities include touring with a local guide and going to the Top of Rockefeller Center for a bird’s eye view of New York City.
8: Our morning begins with a boat ride to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Later we join our local guide to visit the 9/11 Memorial and continue our tour of the city.
9: This morning we travel to Baltimore to visit Fort McHenry. In the afternoon we tour the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. Next three nights in Washington, DC.
10 & 11: We have reserved two full days for exploring our nation’s capital. Sightseeing includes the US Capitol; Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln monuments; World War II, Korean and Vietnam War memorials and more.
12: This morning we visit Arlington Cemetery and then travel to Virginia where we visit Mount Vernon, George Washington’s home. Night in Culpeper.
13: Today we visit Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s home. It is one of Virginia’s most impressive estates. We are on our way west. We cross the Appalachian Mountains on our way to Barboursville for night.
14: It is restful as we travel through peaceful Kentucky Bluegrass Country. At noon we enjoy lunch at Joe Huber’s vegetable and fruit farm in Starlight, IN. Night in Maryland Heights, MO.
15: This is our last day together with time to reflect and visit about our country’s beginning. By evening we arrive at our departure point.
