Day 1: The Lake Michigan region is our destination on this tour. We travel through central Kansas and Missouri on our way to overnight in Troy, IL.

Traveling north through the middle of Illinois this morning brings us to the city of Pontiac by noon. After an included lunch there will be a short time to look at some of the murals on the sides of buildings in the downtown area. Later we continue on to Navy Pier in Chicago. After some time to explore Navy Pier we enjoy a cruise on Lake Michigan for a panoramic view of the Chicago Skyline. Night in Chicago.

We begin today with a guided tour of Chicago, learning the mysteries of the great commercial center. Our next stop is at the Willis Tower, one of the world’s tallest buildings. Elevators carry us to the skydeck on the 103rd floor. Later we travel to Benton Harbor, MI, for the night.

This morning we visit the De Grandchamp Blueberry Farm near South Haven. We have an opportunity to view firsthand the growing and harvesting of blueberries. Next we stop in Holland to visit a factory that produces Delftware and wooden shoes. We continue to Charlevoix where a local guide gives us a tour of this beautiful resort town. Night in Charlevoix.

This morning we travel to Mackinaw City where we board a ferry that takes us to Mackinac Island. Because motorized vehicles are not allowed on the island we tour the island on horse-drawn carriages. Lunch is included at the fabulous Grand Hotel. Late afternoon we take the ferry to St. Ignace where we spend the night.

As we leave St. Ignace we travel through the upper peninsula and along the west coast of Lake Michigan to Green Bay, WI, where we have a tour of Lambeau Field. Next two nights in Green Bay.

Today a guide shows us Door County, one of the most naturally intriguing and picturesque areas of North America. Door County is often called the Cape Cod of the Midwest. We visit the beautiful Bjorklunden Chapel along the shore of Lake Michigan. This chapel is a replica of a Norwegian Stavkirke with intricate hand carvings and painted murals. Lunch is included at a traditional Door County Fish Boil.

The Manitowoc Maritime Museum is our first stop this morning. The museum’s exhibit galleries depict the history of shipping on the Great Lakes. Of note is an exhibit of submarine building during World War II. No visit to Wisconsin would be complete without a stop at one of the many cheese shops for which the state is famous. Our stop allows a chance to sample and purchase some locally made cheese. Night in Janesville.

We travel into northeast Iowa with a stop in Dyersville at the site where the movie "Field of Dreams" was filmed. Later we continue our travel through the heart of Iowa and spend the night in Des Moines.

We all agree that the last nine days have been a rich experience as we glide effortlessly on our modern motorcoach to central Kansas and home.
